Finecan Brothers will start an annual tradition this year with the first Finecan Film Awards. The Finecan Film Awards 2008 will honor the most inspirational achievements in cinema released in Finland on theater or dvd from october 1st 2006 til september 30th 2007. You may notice we don't follow the calendar of the usual awards season due to diversity in release dates between US and Europe. This way we can give hope to those films that are yet to be released in our home country.

THE RESULTS OF THE 1st ANNUAL FINECAN FILM AWARDS

The ceremony consists of the following categories:

Finecan Spirit Award (best feature)

Finecan Spirit Award is given to a film that the commitee has chosen to be the most inspirational motion picture of the year.

Lead Actor in a Motion Picture
Lead Actress in a Motion Picture
Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture
Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture

Excellence in Directing
Excellence in Cinematopraphy

Male Movie Star of the Year

The award is given to a male movie actor with best overall performances of the year.

Female Movie Star of the Year

The award is given to a male movie actor with best overall performances of the year.

Tagline Trophy (special award)

Special Award chosen by member Jay Tagline.

Peninsula Award (special award)

Special Award chosen by member Larry Peninsula.

The winners of the Golden Armadillos statuettes will be announced in a little ceremony on Saturday 26th of January.
